Lynn Hill's career has been a resounding success. She won over 15 major competitions and dozens of first ascents. In recent years she has continued to participate in her passion and has served as a sponsor for Patagonia clothing line.
In perhaps her most famed achievement, Lynn free-climbed "The Nose," of the El Capitan mountain in Yosemite Valley. She was the first to complete this climb in under 24 hours. The face of the mountain is over 2,900 ft high.
Lynn's acheivements drew the attention of the French Alpine club, who invited her to climb in France. These were her first experiences with competition climbing and she excelled in the new environment, winning some of her first competitive climbs and completing several first ascents
Lynn first experienced mountain climbing at the age of 16. She went on trips to Yosemite National Park, where she climbed with the Camp 4 group. While there, Lynn joined the park's search and rescue team. These skills helped Lynn in her competitive career
